Welcome to the official blog of Dickinson at Universal Orlando: The Mathematics of Theme Parks!
This summer, a group of Dickinson students will be spending three weeks at Universal Orlando, using the parks as our classroom. Led by Professors Dick Forrester and Barry Tesman, students will be studying the mathematics and related disciplines behind the magic, exploring real-world applications of probability, statistics, optimization, graph theory, combinatorics, and mathematical modeling through direct observation and hands-on analysis of guest flow, attraction efficiency, and operational decision-making.
Students will take turns writing blog posts here during the program. We hope the blog gives you a sense of what we are doing each day, from the attractions we visit to the mathematical questions we explore.
